President Colorado Association for Gifted and Talented, Colorado
How do we serve the elusive brilliance of gifted general ability? How do we help students who express their giftedness nonverbally match ability with achievement? Nonverbal expressions of brilliance do not imply the absence of words; rather, these expressions can pack words with power and depth through metaphors, visual representations, and our brain’s visuospatial sketchpad. Yes, that kid IS gifted!
Learning Objectives:
Attendees will apply understanding of general intellectual ability and nonverbal expressions of brilliance to curricular techniques for gifted learners.
Attendees with explore methods to foster the expression of brilliance in underserved populations so they will better be served in gifted programs.
Attendees will foster visual-language-experiential-cross-curricular connections which help provide equitable, culturally-responsive opportunities and access to critical thinking.
