The development of critical consciousness is paramount for participation in a global society. This session highlights how virtual field trips can be used as the vehicle for exploring and extending content in culturally-sustaining ways. This session explores how and where virtual field trips can be integrated into curriculum across grade levels to develop global competencies.

Learning Objectives:

  • Attendees will be able to define the importance of critical consciousness as a conception of giftedness
  • Attendees will be able to discuss the role of virtual field trips as a culturally-sustaining instructional strategy to build global competencies.
  • Attendees will be able to design a lesson they can use in their own classroom that integrates virtual field trips.
