This session shares the newly-revised Initial Practice-Based Professional Preparation Standards for Gifted Educators (K-12). The presenters compare this revision with the 2013 NAGC/CEC standards, the revision process, and the research base. Presenters and participants describe ways that they have used the professional preparation standards for program development, professional learning, and advocacy.

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will describe the importance of different types of standards and their interrelationships.
  • Participants will describe the new Initial Practice-Based Professional Preparation Standards for Gifted Educators (K-12).
