This presentation explores findings from the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE), comparing honors and general education students from 13 different universities. Results of the data analysis suggest that even after controlling for demographics, students in honors programs are more likely to ask questions in class and make course presentations. They are also less likely to simply memorize course material.
Learning Objectives:
Understand how the NSSE assesses honors students and the overall undergraduate student experience
Understand the findings of the analysis that demonstrate differences in certain in-class activities of honors and general education students
Understand some of the benefits of honors participation for gifted undergraduate students
