Shifting paradigms, intense scrutiny; the call for equity, diversity, and inclusion; and the pressure to reform are the current reality of public education. With many years of experience, a panel of current and previous state directors speaks about the future of policies affecting students, educators, and personnel preparation. Will current gifted education survive, or must a new model emerge?

Learning Objectives:

  • Attendees will be able to defend gifted education services and programs and explain their direct effect on equity, diversity, and inclusion
  • Attendees will learn tangible ways to increase equity and diversity in gifted services and programs
  • Attendees will become knowledgeable about inequities that affect all students, especially gifted students
