Help your students develop critical thinking and communication skills through arts integration! Using research-based techniques, teachers learn specific strategies using art from local and national museums. Materials and lesson plans are shared as these strategies are modeled for use in classrooms.
Learning Objectives:
Participants will recognize the importance of designing arts-focused learning experiences for all gifted and talented children, weaving depth and complexity into grade level standards in history, science, and social-emotional learning.
Participants will be able to create experiences in their classrooms that integrate the arts to connect thinking skills with students’ cultural, linguistic, familial, social, and artistic gifts and backgrounds.
Participants will learn effective strategies (Socratic Seminar, Making Thinking Visible routines, Artful Thinking, Paul’s Reasoning Model) for teaching students to become creative-thinking producers and critical-thinking consumers of the fine arts.
