Gifted students should be provided with services that challenge them in their areas of strength and at their level of readiness. But it’s hard to know which assessments tell us who is under-challenged and what exactly they need. This session is about how to choose identification criteria that best align with services and what factors should drive this decision.
Learning Objectives:
Participants will examine the alignment between identification and services in their own districts.
Participants will consider the array of tests available and the purposes the tests best address.
Participants will study the differences in identifying high-ability students versus those achieving highly and consider services for the two groups.
