President Colorado Association for Gifted and Talented, Colorado
Perhaps the best sort of learning occurs when it sneaks up on you. How can we use humor, hands-on learning, mystery, and STEAM to engage boys in social-emotional lessons? This session aims to help us better understand the wonderful (and conflicted) world of gifted "boyness” and ways we can nurture boys' growth at home, in the counselling office, and at school.
Learning Objectives:
Attendees will learn about the unique social-emotional needs of gifted boys, including the cultural ramifications of growing up male and gifted in American culture.
Attendees will apply understanding of male giftedness through hands-on and creative social-emotional lessons.
Attendees will develop empathy and understanding while working with gifted boys by nurturing them in ways that promote understanding.
