Gifted education must reckon with its past. This session provides the historical context for the growth of U.S. gifted education in the mid-20th century through an examination of the founder of the NAGC and Gifted Child Quarterly, Ann Fabe Isaacs. Examining Isaacs's far-reaching legacy can inform contemporary understandings, research, and advocacy of the racial inequity in gifted education.
