Our research interests lie in discovering how overexcitabilities (OE) might be related to children’s temperaments, and, in turn, how those traits might influence how children approach learning. Even when controlling for temperamental activity level, psychomotor OEs predicted learned helplessness and mastery orientation. When controlling for anger/frustration, emotional OEs no longer predicted learned helplessness or mastery orientation.
Learning Objectives:
Participants will be able to identify the significant conceptual and empirical relationships between psychomotor OEs and temperament activity levels. They will also become familiar with emotional OEs and temperament anger/frustration in gifted children.
Participants will be able to describe how psychomotor OE predicts approaches to learning in gifted children.
