Excellence gaps, or differences between student subgroups at advanced levels of performance, can be addressed through policy, programming, and instruction. Over the past decade, there has been a surge in equity research in advanced education. In this session, we present an update on excellence gap intervention research and strategies districts and schools can use to put that research into practice.
Learning Objectives:
Gifted coordinators will examine the seven facets of the Excellence Gap Intervention Model (EGIM) to identify interventions within their sphere of influence that they can use to reduce excellence gaps.
Gifted coordinators will discuss current research-based strategies that can be applied and adapted locally to improve equity and reduce excellence gaps.
Gifted coordinators will develop an enhanced understanding of specific ways to apply research-based strategies to pursue equity and excellence.
