Participants engage in the Osborn-Parnes Six-Step Creative Problem Solving process implementing specific divergent and convergent thinking strategies during each step of the process. They learn how to apply classic research-based processes and strategies to any content area, including social-emotional learning. Finally, attendees explore how to differentiate the process for gifted learners by implementing research and self-directed learning.
Learning Objectives:
Participants will learn divergent thinking warm-up strategies that they can apply to any content area. They will learn how these strategies can be used for pre-assessment of any content.
Participants will learn specific divergent thinking strategies as they explore each step of the Creative Problem Solving process, including Brainstorming, Attribute Lists, and Idea Checklists.
Participants will learn specific convergent thinking strategies as they apply each step of the Creative Problem Solving process, including Musts and Wants, Hits and Hotspots, Evaluation Grids, and ALU.
