Twice-Exceptional (2e) learners with autism experience a spectrum of emotions throughout the day. These learners often have difficulty expressing and recognizing emotions, which can lead to risk for isolation and inappropriate educational placement. This session focuses on teaching emotional regulation and mindfulness strategies to 2e learners with autism through the use of children’s literature.
Learning Objectives:
Participants will understand the characteristics of overexcitabilities of 2e learners.
Participants will understand how to use children’s literature to teach emotional regulation to 2e learners with autism.
Participants will be able to implement instructional strategies for emotional regulation and growth mindsets for 2e learners with autism.
