Building an Intentional Community of Support for Gifted Learners

If you designed a program for gifted students from scratch, what would it look like? How would you hire/retain staff to support students’ academic and social-emotional development? Why might families invest in and trust this program? What would be the metrics of success? Join us to learn how we grew a passionate, purposeful public school for gifted students.

Learning Objectives:

  • Apply informational and advocacy strategies to support the needs of gifted learners with district departments and community members relative to physical spaces, funding sources, and personnel.
  • Build a hiring, development, and retention process for classified and certified staff that supports and promotes the academic and social-emotional needs of gifted students and their parents.
  • Evolve a school culture and climate that elevates the power of community, student voice and ownership, and transformational leadership to keep gifted education in the public school conversation.
