We occupy and navigate a society bombarded by media messaging. Attendees examine the interactions and potential implications of childhood giftedness in relation to our children’s inescapable role as media consumers. The presenter offers practical tools for parents and caregivers to increase children’s critical thinking skills when interacting with digital media to boost positive media effects.
Learning Objectives:
Participants will be able to use simple strategies and tools to cultivate children’s critical thinking skills in relation to media exposure.
Participants will be able to identify three parental mediation styles and describe potential benefits and challenges to each.
Attendees will be able to analyze the relationship of high-ability students and media.
