Retrospective studies of psychologically traumatic life events help construct interventions for others (Bertsen & Rubin, 2002). This interactive session of the second year of a longitudinal retrospective investigation highlights the psychosocial development among gifted LGBTQs who came out after age 30. Examining their challenges and coping strategies serves as a foundation for work with today’s adolescents who are questioning.
Learning Objectives:
Participants will demonstrate through discussion that they understand the value and utility of retrospective studies involving social and emotional development.
Participants will describe how they can apply retrospective information to scaffold the development of questioning adolescents they teach.
