In this session, we share the philosophical foundation scaffolding the educational practices used by George and Annemarie Roeper during their school leadership careers. We explore educational expectations, outcomes, and beliefs about humanism — a holistic view of learning honoring the internal state of being that is giftedness rather than emphasizing grades, class rankings, or performance outcomes.
Learning Objectives:
Participants gain awareness about the Roeper philosophy of education and learn how to apply the philosophy in collaborating with others
Participants engage in experiential learning during interaction and discussion
Participants enhance their social-emotional understanding of giftedness and the historical foundation of gifted education
