In this session, learn simple and effective ways to bring rich discussion opportunities, visual arts, and poetry into the classroom to increase rigor and raise the fun. Directions, templates, checklists, and rubrics are provided for participants.
Learning Objectives:
Define arts integration. Describe portraits by looking for specific focal points to encourage peer discussion and analysis. Demonstrate understanding by writing simple poetry pieces.
Learn how to create a museum display of meaningful objects. Use the display to conduct rich peer discussions about the composition and inspiration behind the work.
Illustrate an abstract art piece including lines and shapes of geometry in the style of Kandinsky. Write an artist statement to explain the selection of the colors, patterns, and shapes.
