Emily Mofield, Ed.D., is an Assistant Professor at Lipscomb University, teaching courses in the Gifted Education and Advanced Academics Program and the Ed.D. Program for Learning Organizations and Strategic Change. With over 22 years of experience in gifted education as a teacher, district leader, and assistant professor, Emily is passionate about developing high-quality resources that bridge theory to practice, equipping teachers to provide instruction to reveal and develop talent in gifted and high-potential students. Her work focuses on curriculum, differentiation, psychosocial skills, and collaborative teaching practices.
Emily has authored or co-authored a number of books, award-winning gifted curricula (with Vanderbilt PTY), articles, and chapters. Her research on psychosocial skills has been recognized by NAGC with the Hollingworth Award and Legacy Book Award for Teaching Tenacity, Resilience, and a Drive for Excellence (with Megan Parker Peters). Her most recent co-authored books include Collaboration, Coteaching, and Coaching in Gifted Education (NAGC Book fo the Year, 2021 with Vicki Phelps), A Teacher’s Guide to Curriculum Design for Gifted and Advanced Learners (2022 with Tamra Stambaugh), NAGC LEAP Guidebook and Online Modules for Curriculum Design (2023 with Chris Weber), and Coaching in Gifted Educaiton (2024 with Vicki Phelps). She has also recently published a book of instructional strategies: Vertical Differentiation for Gifted, Advanced, and High-Potential Students (2023) highlighting powerful thinking tools to stretch student thinking. Emily regularly leads professional learning addressing differentiation, honors course planning, and collaborative teaching practices for school districts and special groups and is an invited speaker for many conferences across the United States.
