Justin H. Dove is the proud product of gifted and talented programs in Cleveland Heights and Twinsburg, Ohio. He comes from a family of educators and is the son of a speech-language pathologist. Justin earned a BS in Human Ecology (Family Studies), MA in Education (School Psychology), and EdS in Education (School Psychology) from The Ohio State University. He is a nationally certified school psychologist (NCSP) and licensed educational psychologist (LEP #4333). His professional journey has spanned several Ohio, Georgia, and California school districts over thirteen years, including Columbus City Schools, Atlanta Public Schools, and High Tech High Charter Schools. The 2023/24 school year is Justin's third year as a school psychologist and administrator at Mirman School, an independent K-8 school for intellectually gifted children in Los Angeles.
Recently, Justin has had the honor of sharing his professional insight and growing expertise with the Gifted Association of Missouri's Speaker Series, Sierra Canyon's Parents of Black Students (PBS) affinity group, Jessika Shields' Parent Them Successful podcast, Mirman School's 60th Anniversary Speaker Series, Supporting Emotional Needs of the Gifted (SENG), and the Black School Psychologists Network (BSPN). He endeavors to center social justice, mental health, neurodiversity-affirming practices, special education advocacy, and culturally-sensitive assessment in his work. Moreover, Justin's personal and professional philosophies emphasize the importance of perpetually learning, engaging in individual and systems-level reflection, and building partnerships with educators, community-based professionals, and parents/caregivers while remembering the words of Dr. Charles A. Barrett, "It's always about the children."
