Teacher Expert - Gifted Identification Team

Jillian is a 27-year veteran teacher. She has a bachelor's degree in elementary education, two master's degrees in special education and education administration, and a Ph.D. in gifted and talented development with assessment and evaluation. Jillian has taught in both Canada and the USA. Jillian has taught in regular, special, and gifted education (both enrichment and highly gifted) classrooms as well as at the college graduate level. Jillian's research interests are in the area of 2e, misidentification of giftedness as ADHD, and equity in identification. She is currently the lead teacher on the Anchorage School District's Gifted Identification Team, which has revamped its gifted identification process to promote program equity in the Nation's most diverse school district. Jillian also offers private assessment services throughout the US and Canada as well as offering professional development in gifted education tailored to school districts' needs. Jillian has spoken multiple times at both the NAGC and the World Gifted Conferences and is a strong advocate for meeting the needs of gifted learners from all walks of life.
