Alissa Cress (she/her/hers)

Clinical Assistant Professor
Purdue University, Indiana

Alissa Cress is a Clinical Assistant Professor at Purdue University. She received her Masters and Ph.D. in Educational Studies, focusing on Gifted, Creative, and Talented Studies, from Purdue University. She taught kindergarten after obtaining a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education also through Purdue. She has worked as a teacher, counselor, and co-counselor coordinator for the Gifted Education Research and Resource Institute's enrichment programs, a research assistant for the Total School Cluster Grouping project, and taught undergraduate pre-service teachers. Her research interests include family and community engagement, foster children and their experiences in education, underserved populations in gifted education, the effects of resource availability on development, and teacher training. She currently teaches mulitple undergraduate courses at Purdue University, related to students with gifts and talents, differentiation, and special populations of students, who are often underserved in gifted education. She also works on the HOPE+SIM Javits Grant Project.
