Kari Lockhart is a district administrator coordinating gifted and talented and advanced academics services for Allen Independent School District in Allen, TX. This is her 15th year in education. Kari holds a PhD in educational psychology with a focus on gifted and talented education and is the author of "What to Expect When You're Expected to Teach Gifted Students: A Guide to the Celebrations, Surprises, Quirks, and Questions in Your First Year Teaching Gifted Learners". Her research interests include professional learning in gifted education and strategies for creating equitable opportunities for students in advanced learning programs. Kari lives in Dallas with her spouse and their three cats.
