John Burrell is a second-year Educational Psychology Ph.D. student at the University of Connecticut in the program for Giftedness, Talent Development, and Creativity, where he serves as a research assistant for Project EAGLE (Eliciting Advanced Learning Evidence) under the direction of Del Siegle. John has a Master of Arts in Teaching from Hamline University and a B.A. in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Minnesota. John taught Middle School and High School science and math for seven years, including three years at Arete Academy, a school for twice-exceptional learners in Minneapolis, Minnesota. John also teaches essential study skills at Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts, for their Andover Summer program.
John's research interests include the role of social media in talent development, changing conceptions of giftedness, and how gifted education can afford a deeper appreciation of our common humanity.
