Assistant Director - Gifted

Maria Lohr is the Assistant Director for Gifted in the Office for Exceptional Children at the Ohio Department of Education. She has been with the Department since 2015. In this role, Maria provides technical assistance and support to school administrators, educators, and families from across Ohio regarding effective practices, state laws, rules, and policies for gifted education. Prior to joining the Ohio Department of Education, Maria was an educator and provided services to the gifted and talented in rural, urban, and suburban public schools. Currently, Maria is the President of the Council of State Directors of Programs for Gifted, a national organization of state education agency personnel who are responsible for developing public school programs for the gifted and talented in the fifty states and the trust territories of the United States.
