Michelle is a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Virginia in the department of Curriculum and Instruction. She holds an Ed.D. and M.Ed. from the University of Virginia, both in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on gifted education. Michelle also holds an M.A. in English Literature from Middlebury College and is a licensed English educator. Currently, she teaches courses to pre-service and in-service teachers within the University of Virginia's teacher education program. She also engages in research relating to gifted education in secondary school contexts, and is also interested in supporting teachers in their use of best practices in classroom assessment. Prior to her work in teacher education, Michelle taught secondary English and journalism courses in public schools in Pennsylvania. She worked specifically with gifted and talented learners in the English/langauge arts.
