Matthew Kimball is an advocate for traumatic brain injury (TBI) and disability, as well as the larger mental health community. After teaching middle and high school English in Tennessee for 7 years, his brain injuries forced him out of the classroom he loved. Since his departure from the K-12 system, he taught writing through the National Alliance on Mental Illness, led a national webinar on adolescent brain injury through the National Council for Mental Well-being, and volunteered with people experiencing incarceration, domestic assault, or marginalized housing.
