Helen is a 15-year veteran teacher, currently working for Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) in Virginia. She has taught preschool as well as fourth and fifth grade serving the gifted cluster. Currently, Helen works as a K-5 gifted resource teacher for two schools within MCPS. She has presented at district-level professional development and statewide conferences on topics ranging from best practices for gifted students, student engagement, passion projects, gifted service models and student-led conferences. She received her bachelor’s degree from Washington & Lee University, her master’s degree in teaching from Mary Baldwin College, a gifted endorsement from Radford University and her leadership and supervision endorsement from Longwood College. Helen was named the 2018-2019 Virginia Gifted Association Teacher of the Year for Region 6.
