Rebecca L. O’Brien received her Ph.D. in Educational Psychology with a concentration in Giftedness, Creativity, and Talent Development from the University of Connecticut. She is the Assistant Professor of Gifted Education in the Graduate Studies in Education department and Director for the Center of Gifted Education and Equitable Instruction at Whitworth University. Her work primarily focuses on identifying and encouraging high potential in students from diverse backgrounds, improving teacher preparation, and supporting in-service teacher learning and instruction. Prior to becoming a professor, Rebecca served as a math, science, and robotics teacher in an urban middle school.
