Counselor
Hulstrom K-8 School for Advanced Academic and Gifted Students, Colorado
I have been working with children for nearly 30 years, beginning as a junior swim instructor and life guard when I was only a tween. I added academic tutoring during college where I found my calling in teaching, and continued to teach and coach competitive swimming while in my first science teaching position. After earning a Bachelor of Arts in Biological Sciences and my teaching license from the University of Northern Colorado, I spent three years teaching high school physics, chemistry, and biology in Aurora before continuing my own education by enrolling at the University of Phoenix to complete a Master of Arts in Educational Counseling. I began my tenure in Adams 12 as a middle school counselor at an alternative school before returning to the middle school science classroom for just over a decade and ultimately landing at Hulstrom as a school counselor. Personally, swimming and reading are two of my very favorite activities. I also spend as much time as I can with my family at home.
