Woodland Park School District, Colorado
Jervaise Pileggi, Ph.D., has been an educator for over 15 years. She has worked with gifted students her entire career and as a Gifted Coordinator for Woodland Park School District for the last five years. Jervaise strongly feels gifted students deserve challenges every day in every class and their unique socioemotional needs are met. Jervaise strives to ensure gifted students learn successful skills to navigate gifted adulthood. She enjoys working with gifted students and families to understand the nuances of giftedness better. Jervaise's doctoral research examined gifted adults' self-perceptions of bibliotherapy, wherein she discovered self-determining bibliotherapy, which is when readers use literature to meet their socioemotional needs without engaging in formal discussion and instead utilize metacognition.
