Dr. German Diaz is a native of Colombia. He works as a Teacher/Coach at the Department of Advanced Academics at Milwaukee Public School District. He has been teaching in the U.S. and Colombia for 21 years, combined. He is a school and district leader where he addresses issues of inequality, social justice, and fair representation of Latino students in gifted programs.
He holds a B.S. degree in Philosophy and Education from Saint Thomas Aquinas University from Colombia, a master’s degree in Theology from Saint Francis Seminary, a master’s degree in Bilingual Education from Lakeland College, and a Ph.D. in Urban Education with a concentration in Multicultural Studies from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee in Urban Education. His research focus is on gifted education with an emphasis on underrepresented Latinos/as in gifted programs; and the inclusion of the arts to nurture, identify, and develop talent. He also has served as a presenter at the state and national levels on the issue of the underrepresentation of Latino students in gifted programs. He also works as adjunct faculty at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee in the School of Education.
Finally, he has two beautiful children: Salem and Emaluna. He enjoys riding his motorcycle, playing sports, and traveling.
