Special Education Specialist

hauna Wilson has a long-standing career in Special Education which includes Special Education teacher, Gifted Education teacher and most recently, Special Education Specialist for special needs and gifted. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Family and Child Sciences and a Special Education Certificate, preschool through 12th grade, as well as a Master of Arts in Elementary Education, preschool through 8th grade. The 2023-2024 school year will mark her 20th year in education in Gadsden Independent School District (GISD). She has experience in working with all levels of Special Education, from developmental skills through gifted education. Currently, she provides support to campus staff in Special Education and Gifted Education, including implementing the Case Study Approach for Gifted Identification. Also, she serves as the secretary on the GISD Gifted Advisory Committee from 2016 to present and a member of the South-Central New Mexico Association of Gifted from 2017 to 2021. She is passionate about supporting teachers in their daily work with special needs and gifted learners.
