Coordinator of Gifted Education
Gilbert Public Schools, Arizona
Lisa Creaser, M.Ed., is a career educator who spent many years as a classroom teacher for 6th - 12th grades. After multiple "Train the Trainer" opportunities she became an Instructional Specialist dedicated to improving instruction on a large high school campus where she also oversaw the School Improvement Plan for multiple years. However, it was her experience as an Advanced Placement English Language & Composition teacher that led her to gifted education. As an AP teacher, AP administrator, and parent of a gifted AP student she quickly developed a vision for the kind of education and differentiation gifted learners need to thrive, no matter the classes they are enrolled in. She spent five years as the principal of a junior high with the district's gifted cohort from its inception as it became a dynamic model designed to challenge students intellectually while also supporting their unique social and emotional needs. As the district Coordinator of Gifted Education Lisa supports cluster, pull-out, and self-contained gifted teachers, and she continually researches best practices for gifted learners to share with teachers. She also designs and provides professional development on giftedness, differentiation, and the Depth & Complexity Icons specially designed for gifted teachers, individual campuses, and educators in general. Outside of work Lisa travels as often as she can, creates beautiful sugar cookes for all kinds of events, and treasures every minute she gets to spend with her children and granddaughters.
