Dr. Rebecca McKinney is a highly accomplished educator with over 20 years of experience in the field, spanning curriculum, instruction, early childhood education, educational leadership, and gifted education. As the current Director of Gifted Education for the Colorado Department of Education, Dr. McKinney is responsible for overseeing the state's gifted education program. Dr. McKinney is also a co-author of the book Accelerating Learning for All, Equity in Action and co-founder of Rising Tide Education Consultants, LLC.
Dr. McKinney is a strong believer in the importance of equity in gifted education. She believes that all gifted learners, regardless of their background, should have the opportunity to reach their full potential. She is committed to working with educators and policymakers to create a more equitable gifted education system. In addition to her work in gifted education, Dr. McKinney is also a wife and mother. In her free time, Dr. McKinney enjoys running, spending time with her family, and playing with her dogs. She is a Colorado native, and she loves living in Denver.
