Beth Christie is the Subject Coordinator for Social Studies, Fine Arts, and Enrichment in the Anglophone West School District, Province of New Brunswick, Canada. Beth has been an educator for over twenty years with experience teaching and supporting learning in many fields from Kindergarten to Grade 12 in both rural and urban school settings. Her time spent living and working in China and Malaysia and delivering service learning programs at international schools was the basis of her Masters thesis in Critical Studies in Education with the University of New Brunswick. Beth is passionate about experiential education and developing creativity; but what really gets her toes to the floor each morning is fostering engaged democratic citizenship at all age levels.
As the Subject Coordinator for Enrichment, Beth supports the 70 schools in her district with the programming of challenging and enriching learning experiences for students within the mandated common learning environment. The past four years she has partnered with Derrick Grant, the Numeracy Coordinator, to provide professional learning specific to middle level mathematics. Beth’s primary goals in this portfolio centres around clarity and communication of policies and processes to ensure a more cohesive approach across our geographically large school district.
