Derrick Grant is the Subject Coordinator for Numeracy 6-12 in the Anglophone West School District, Province of New Brunswick, Canada. An educator for over thirty years, Derrick has experience teaching and supporting learning in math and sciences from grades 6 through 12.
After teaching High School for 14 years,Derrick began working as a Numeracy Coach with grades 6-12 math teachers. Working directly with teachers in the classroom environmnent, Derrick co-planned and co-taught to help them meet their goals of adopting new practices. In 2017, Derrick became the Numeracy Coordinator for grades 6-12, working with a team of math coaches to support practice change throughout the district.
Derrick's passion in numeracy education centres around collaborative problem-solving, experiential learning, and leveraging student interests and imagination. Derrick collaborates with his colleague Beth Christie in supporting Numeracy enrichment in the district, and is a member of the Provincial Committee for Advanced Learners.
