Marla Caviness-French is a Colorado Native and is a Gifted and Talented evangelist. Marla has been a public education teacher for 33 years - 14 as a secondary social studies and language arts teacher, 9 as a teacher librarian, and 10 as a Gifted and Talented Resource teacher. Marla is the CogAT Coordinator for the Jeffco Public Schools (110 schools, 300+ 2nd grade teachers, and 4800+ 2nd grade students) and strongly believes that cognitive data should be used to guide instruction for all students. Marla also advocates for secondary GT students and their teachers via collaboration and connections across high school and school districts. Marla is the co-founder of Gifted and Talented Secondary Perspective (GT2), a grassroots organization in Colorado that brings advocates for secondary Gifted and Talented students together in order to collaborate on best practices, encourage each other, and laugh. Marla is also the parent of B,B,G triplets that are in high school. The journey towards driver licenses has caused a lot of gray hairs and deep appreciation for Driver's Ed instructors. When not in school or hanging onto the “oh pooh” handle, Marla enjoys reading, playing with her dogs and cats, and sampling dark chocolate from around the world.
