Freda Williams has over 20 years of experience as an educator in Sarasota Florida. She began her career at a Title 1 Arts Achieve Model School which allowed her intensive training in arts integration with experts from the Kennedy Performing Arts Center and local arts community organizations. Freda has previously earned her National Board Certification and quickly found her passion in working with gifted students. For the past 8 years, Freda has been working at Pine View School for the Gifted, a unique magnet school that has earned top honors nationally for high achievement and excellence.
Freda has a deep understanding of blending visual and performing arts with academic subjects to promote critical and creative thinking strategies for her students. She has served on committees that promote the arts in schools as well as been invited to serve as a teaching artist for local professional development opportunities for teachers in the state of Florida. In addition, she has led multiple professional development workshops on ways to meet the needs of gifted students focusing on gifted standards throughout the southwest counties of Florida.
At Pine View, Freda has created projects for her students to stretch their creative thinking skills through multiple art forms fostering self-confidence, critical thinking, communication, and self-expression. She strongly believes in fostering an inquiry-based learning model for the students she serves in all academic subjects she teaches.
Freda was awarded the Florida Literacy Teacher of the Year in 2018, 2018 and 2022 Pine View Hall of Fame 212 Recipient, 2015 Educator of the Year Florida Studio Theater, and 2011 Teacher of the Year Gocio Elementary.
