Petal Elementary School, Mississippi

My name is Kristina Hedgepeth and I live in a small town in South Mississippi called Petal. I've been happily married to my husband for 10 years and we have two beautiul daughters. This is my 11th year teaching. I graduated with my bachelors degree in Special Education from the University of Southern Mississippi and taught for 7 years in inclusion, resource, and self-contained settings. During those early years of my career I received my masters in Gifted Education from William Carey University. I have been blessed and fortunate to have been teaching Gifted in one of the top school districts in the state of Mississippi for the last 4 years. We currently have roughly 250 gifted students in our 3rd and 4th grades with about 10% of those being twice exceptional. Because of my diverse background and experiences, I believe I am a great advocate for the Twice Exceptional world.
