Sonya Burchett

Sonya is a 24-year veteran of the Montgomery County Public School System in Virginia. She has been a first and second-grade teacher, with experience as a gifted cluster teacher. Currently, she serves as a K-5 gifted resource teacher for two schools within her district. Sonya has co-led several division-wide staff developments related to Gifted Education and strongly believes in being an advocate for her students to all stakeholders. She received her educator license and M.S. in Curriculum and Instruction from Radford University and her gifted endorsement from the University of Virginia. Sonya was the 2017-18 Virginia Gifted Association Teacher of the Year for Region 6.
