Gifted Education Director
Phelps Center for Gifted Education, Springfield Public Schools, Missouri
Dr. Lenae Lazzelle is the Director of Gifted Education for Springfield Public Schools. The WINGS program, located at the Phelps Center for Gifted Education, serves over 700 gifted students from 36 elementary and ten middle schools. The full-time middle school gifted program, SCHOLARS, serves an additional 130 students within Central High School. Dr. Lazzelle is a founding member of the Missouri Advisory Council on the Education of Gifted and Talented Children, past-president of the Gifted Association of Missouri and teaches the gifted education courses at Missouri State University. Published works include: Student Perceptions of Engagement in Part-time and Full-time Gifted Programs, Improving Achievement in Minority and Poverty Gifted Populations, and Meeting the Needs of Highly Gifted Students.
