Tamie Barrett is a Gifted and Talented Coordinator and Instructor for Lawton Public Schools. She is responsible for gifted and talented testing, identification, and instruction for four of the 15 elementary schools in the district. She is currently in her 38th year working in the education field. Tamie previously served the Lawton community as an elementary principal for 10 years, an assistant principal for 4 years, a reading specialist for 10 years, and classroom teacher for 9 years. After retiring from administrative responsibilities, she worked as an educational consultant, supervising entry year teachers for Cameron University, and worked for Westat as an Assessment Administrator for the National Assessment of Educational Progress. Outside of the classroom, Tamie enjoys spending time traveling and attending sporting events with her husband, three children, and 2 grandchildren.
