Carol A. Carman is an Associate Professor in the Department of Clinical Laboratory Science in the School of Health Professions and in the Department of Biostatistics and Data Science in the School of Public and Population Health at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. She teaches Research Seminar II, Doctoral Project I-III, and Survey Design. Her research interests include giftedness, diversity, the interaction between either/both of those constructs and their measurement, and scholarship of teaching and learning. Previously she was a Professor of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis-Research at the University of Houston-Clear Lake. She has also acted as a consultant on gifted- and creativity-related issues to two local school districts as well as the local Children’s Museum. Dr. Carman is a life member of NAGC since 1999, and has served as Assistant Program Chair and Program Chair for the Research & Evaluation Network. She has also served in various roles for AERA since 2005, including leadership positions for the Research on Giftedness, Creativity, and Talent SIG, the Professors of Educational Research SIG, and he Faculty Teaching, Evaluation, and Development SIG. She was an Associate Editor for Gifted Child Quarterly (GCQ) and currently serves on Editorial Review Boards for GCQ, the Journal for the Education of the Gifted (JEG), and Gifted Education International (GEI). She reviews for six peer reviewed journals in the areas of giftedness and diversity.
