Determining Accessibility, Availability of Gifted Information on School District Websites

Access and awareness of gifted services is a necessary first step to closing equity gaps in gifted education. Identification for gifted services is limited if access and awareness are limited. Attendees of this session gain a better understanding of good practices via district websites to ensure accessibility and availability of information about gifted identification and services for all students.

Learning Objectives:

  • Attendees will be able to successfully evaluate the availability and accessibility of information regarding gifted identification and services via their school district website.
  • Attendees will be able to consider website design and user-friendliness to improve equitable practices in their own district's gifted programming.
  • Attendees will know what information is needed and how to effectively place information on district websites to ensure all students have access to gifted eligibility criteria and participation guidelines.
