Teacher and Coordinator of Gifted Education (K-8) Schuylkill Valley School District, Pennsylvania
The aim of this presentation is to share the effects of a year-long environmental justice-themed book club, which cultivated motivation for agency among sixth-grade gifted students. The students used a picture book publishing opportunity to share their perspective and voices as climate justice partners, calling them to a higher role as change agents in their community.

Attendees will be able to explain the importance of change agency and civic identity and their combined dynamism within gifted curricula.
Attendees will be able to explore the effects of change agency opportunities for gifted students and their teachers.
Attendees will be able to explore how a picture book publishing opportunity immersed gifted students in awareness and change agency.
