This session focuses on five specific strategies that gifted coordinators, administrators, and teachers can use within their schools to increase awareness and identification of language learners as potential gifted students. Drawing from examples currently used in a middle school, session participants have the opportunity to apply their learning to their own educational settings.
Learning Objectives:
Participants will be able to describe current obstacles within their own educational settings for the identification of gifted English language learners.
Participants will be able to collaborate with fellow participants towards creating solutions to those obstacles.
Participants will compare key strategies to identify gifted English language learners in their schools and see how they might incorporate or strengthen them for their own purposes.
