Through near peer mentorship opportunities, gifted students build resilience, cultivate empathy for others, and develop a deeper understanding of themselves. In this session, attendees are introduced to specific examples of near peer mentorship programs in both literacy and STEM contexts at a PK-8 school, as well as strategies for designing their own near peer mentorship program.

Attendees will learn the importance of near peer mentorships and the skills built within such groups.
Attendees will take away practical guides for implementing near peer mentorship within their educational community with activities, projects, and events.
Attendees will learn practical strategies to facilitate these types of relationships between students and create different tools for fostering trusting, strong connections.
