Lessons Learned from Javits Projects: How Talented Teachers Develop Their Talents

Teachers are key to student engagement and student learning. District personnel rely on quality professional learning to increase the talent development knowledge and skills of teachers. We share key features of successful professional development models developed, implemented, and evaluated as part of the Jacob Javits program. Participants receive access to evidence-based materials.

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will gain an understanding of professional learning with respect to best practices in equitable identification.
  • Participants will gain an understanding of professional learning focused on elementary instruction with exemplary literacy, STEM, and mathematics curricula.
  • Participants will receive a curated list of professional development resources and the effectiveness studies linked to them.
