In this session, educators learn about a creative and culturally-responsive lesson that connects to Gifted Programming Standards using poetry and art. This session includes an interactive lesson and samples from the “I Am From” poem and art exchange between gifted arts students and professionals in the United States and Cuba.

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe the importance of Culturally Relevant Pedagogy
  • Describe the effects of integrating the arts and Culturally Relevant Pedagogy
  • Demonstrate a Culturally Relevant Pedagogy lesson that can be used with any grade level
